A few weeks ago it occurred to me that with all of the painting I've done over the years, I've never painted anything for Michael. Ever. That just didn't seem right. He, on the other hand, has made lots of art for me over the years and is tremendously talented in every artistic medium he uses. Our painting styles are very, very different but we both love images of roof tops and architectural landscapes—especially the ones that border on being almost completely abstract. Last week he showed me the work of photographer Michael Wolf and his Paris Roof Top Series and I thought they were just incredible. I really wanted to make a tiny painting of one of them and give it to Michael for our anniversary.
Paris Roof Top #7 (seen here) was harder to do than I thought! It was a challenge to paint at that scale (the finished size is about 3 x 5) and also hard to use so few colors (pretty much black, blue, and gray) but overall, I was pleased with how it turned out.
And happy to finally give my hubby a little piece of art.
